The Project
This £11.5m project consists of the installation of 3 Flue Gas Desulphurisation Plants at Fiddlers Ferry Power Station. The project is for Scottish and Southern Energy, working with Lentjes UK Ltd and has an expected duration of around 72 weeks.
The plant is located near Warrington, Cheshire and was originally commissioned in 1971, consisting of 4 x 500 MW coal fired boilers. NMC have taken on the task of fitting 3 flue gas desulphurisation plants, each meeting the 94% sulphur removal rate required to meet the European Large Combustion Plant directive.
The limestone/gypsum FGD system incorporates a bypass system and a gas/gas heater for reheating the flue gasses to over 80°C post the FGD system and prior to being discharged through the existing chimney. The limestone delivery gypsum off-take will be by rail and modifications to the existing coal delivery circuit are included in the supply, together with a tubular conveying system to transport the limestone/gypsum to and from the FGD scrubbing system.
Expected completion date for the project is January 2008.
