Trainees

What current projects are you working on and what is your role?

I’m a Buyer. Currently I’m working with 19 Highways jobs and hundreds of Utilities jobs. We’re very busy!

What attracted you to NM Group?

Well I started here eight years ago, when I left school, doing some work experience and I’ve never really left! The career opportunities here for me were great. Three years ago I was offered a permanent position and progressed to Contracts Co-ordinator and moved on to a become a Buyer.

What has been your highlight since you started working here?

Definitely getting my job as a Buyer. This job really opened doors for me with training opportunities!

How has NM Group played a role in your long term career development?

There has been lots of training opportunities such as a Procurement Management course that I’ll be doing this year.

What is the most important thing you have learnt since working at NM Group?

I’ve really matured since I started here and learnt how to work with people.

What tips would you give to people looking to apply for jobs at NM Group?

Treat people as equal and how you would want to be treated  there’s a real family feel here and everyone works together and helps each other.

What current projects are you working on and what is your role?

I am a Quantity Surveyor within the Building Division. Currently working on Grove Park Plot 4D, Markham Vale Environment Centre, and Castlewood Business Park.

What attracted you to NM Group?

NM Group have a good reputation in supporting young professionals with training and development. NM Group has supported me throughout my degree. There are also a vast amount of opportunities to progress my career within the group to keep learning. There is a sense of family ethos which is I noticed early by the amount of long serving members of staff.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

No two days are the same (diverse role). Decision making and responsibilities. Problem solving.

What is the most important thing you have learnt since working at NM Group?

The roles and responsibilities of working as a Quantity Surveyor ie: making commercial decisions for the good/protection of the business to maximise profitability.

What tips would you give to people looking to apply for jobs at NM Group?

Research our website and the internet and see what we can do and can offer. Also, be ambitious and have a career plan, there are plenty of opportunities to develop. The recent growth in the construction industry from the recession is a positive and it is great opportunity to join NM Group and develop your career.

What current projects are you working on and what is your role?

I am a Trainee Quantity Surveyor for NMCNomenca. I am currently working on a non infrastructure site in Broughton Astley.

What attracted you to NM Group?

I was already working on the site and had heard really great things about NM Group.

What has been your highlight since you started working here?

Meeting people who have got the experience and skills of the career path I want to go down.

How has NM Group played a role in your long term career development?

NM Group have sponsored and supported me through all of my training and qualifications.

What is the most important thing you have learnt since working at NM Group?

Be confident, do your research and be enthusiastic.
